Why does the scriptures refer to such a harlot? And why the term harlot? What was John seeing when he penned these verses in the book of Revelation. Let us review scripture to understand this prophesy.

• A Woman in scripture always represented the relationship of God's people (Bride) to God (Bridegroom).
  When God's people are Faithful he referred to them as virgins. Isaiah 62:5 Jeremiah 14:17 31:21 II Corinthians 11:2.
  When God's people went after other gods and were unfaithful they were referred to as harlots. Isaiah 1:21 23:16 Jeremiah 2:20 3:1-8 I Corinthians 6:15.
  Therefore, when we speak of God's people today, we are speaking of the CHURCH of Jesus Christ. This means that there is apparently a church that represents a faithful church and there is a church that represents a harlot. How would a church be faithful and how would a church be called a harlot? It is depending on the foundation and doctrine of the church. A church that is faithful to Christ does not compromise His Words but stands strong for it and keeps her Wedding Garment spotless. A harlot church is a church that compromised His Word and refuse to make a commitment to Him much like a harlot who will call herself espoused to a husband, but will go after other men.

• Revelation 17 gives us the description of the harlot and the identity.
  1. The Woman is a city. Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
  2. The City rules over great kings of the earth. Rev 17:18
  3. The harlot is riding on the 4th Beast of Daniel which is the last Empire that Daniel saw (Or the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT). Daniel 7:7 and Rev 17:3.
  4. The harlot represents the clay on the ten toes of the statue dream that Daniel interpreted representing World Empires. Daniel 2:41-42.
  5. The Woman (City) sits on Seven Hills. Rev 17:9 The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth
  6. The Woman (City) also sits on many waters. Rev 17:15 The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
  7. The Woman has caused many people to commit fornication. Rev 17:2
  8. The Woman is drunken with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus Christ. Rev 17:6
  

• What City would fulfill all of these prophecies?
  1. Rome is a great city which in history.
  2. Rome has in time pasts ruled over kings of the earth.
  3. Rome Catholicism which came from Rome did in fact ride on the beasts' back. THE HOLY ROMAN Empire ruled the entire world in history.
  4. The Pope and the Emperor of Rome ruled the world through the IRON of politics and the CLAY of Rome's compromising religion.
  5. Rome indeed is termed "The City on Seven Hills" look it up for yourself in any encyclopedia.
  6. Roman Catholicism claims over 1 billion disciples. This is peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.
  7. Roman Catholicism's doctrines has caused many people to commit fornication (teach false doctrines).
  8. Rome is responsible for the death of millions of True Christians which history refers to as "heretics".
  
  So how did Rome and her Protestant daughters become harlots instead of Faithful Brides? It all began in the early centuries of Christianity. Paul the apostle through the Holy Ghost spread the Gospel message (Acts 2:38) to Rome. For almost 250 years Rome persecuted Christianity until the early 4th Century. The year was 325 and Constantine was the Emperor of Rome. He realized the power of unity, and how persecution of the church just produced more growth. His decision to embrace Christianity has earned him the title of a "hero" in traditional Christianity. However, he assisted in creating a mixed religion. A religion of compromise (CLAY) and attempted to mingle it with his empire (IRON). How did he unite pagan religions with Christianity? The answer involves the conversion of believers. The early church believed in the Oneness of God (Monotheism) just as strong as the Jewish people did. (Deut 6:4, Mark 12:29, Eph 4:6). As Peter explained on the day of Pentecost, Jesus was both Lord and Christ. (Acts 2:35-38). This means the True Christians acknowledged the full Deity of Christ meaning that He was God of the Old Testament manifested in the flesh. (1 Tim 3:16). Constantine used the approach that they could somehow get the pagan polytheist to accept Christianity, so through the council of Nicea the doctrine of the trinity was introduced; which states:
  

• The Trinity Doctrine of Nicea
  "God exists is one God in three divine person, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Co equal, Co eternal, Co existence so that the Father is not the Son and the Son is not the Holy Ghost and the Holy Ghost is not the Father, however these three person in essence are one God."

  • The name is taken out of Baptism, hence the Bride is not taking on Her Husband's name.
    Compromising the Oneness of God through this new doctrine, Constantine's Roman Universal (Catholic) Religion became the most powerful force that this world has ever seen. To this day Roman Catholicism is one of the most influential forces on our world today. Constantine rejected the message of Acts 2:38 and the apostle's doctrine and began to teach the conversion of believers through baptism in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. (Matt 28:19). Why was this a compromise? Because the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus Christ, and to take the name out of the baptism takes Salvation out of the conversion experience. (Acts 4:12). Therefore the candidates that would come to this teaching would go through the baptism (Burial with Christ) but come out without taking on the name of the Bridegroom. This means that you now have a church that claims to be the Bride of Christ, but has not taken on His name hence why God referred to Her as the Mother of Harlots and abominations of the earth. (Peter and the apostles correctly obeyed Jesus' command in Matt 28:19 in Acts 2:38 8:12-17 10:44-48 19:1-6 22:16.).

    The Protestant Churches broke away, however if not far enough remained daughters to Rome.
    Martin Luther, John Calvin... and the others that took a stand against the Catholic Church were stepping the right direction, however failed to go back to the Acts message of Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and renouncing the doctrine of the Trinity, therefore becoming a double compromiser. On one hand rebelling against the Catholic Church, on the other hand still being rejected by God because of the leaven in their doctrine. However her Protestant daughters are coming back to their mother. The following is an article release by the Associated Press sometime in the year 1999:

    Catholics, Lutherans end debate on Salvation BERLIN (AP) - Ending an almost 500-year debate that started when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to a church door; the Lutherans and Roman Catholic Churches plan to sign a joint declaration today putting aside their differences over the way humanity achieves salvation. The historic ceremony is to take place in Augsburg, where the document that outlines the foundations of the Lutheran church was drawn up in 1530 in what was a failed attempt to reconcile differences that split Christianity during the Protestant Reformation. The dispute centers on the question of how to get to heaven. Catholics believe that people's actions can make a difference, while Lutherans believe that Salvation is by faith alone. While it seems abstract in today's world, the dispute set the stage for the division of Germany in the 17th Century that sparked the Thirty Years War. Protestant princes and foreign powers battled the Roman Catholic empire of the Hapsburgs. At the heart of the agreement to be signed Sunday is a statement that faith is essential in Salvation: "Together we confess: By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping and calling us to good works." After 30 years of consultation among theologians, the two sides announced in June that they would sign the agreement on the day 482 years after Luther posted his theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.

    Jeremiah 6:16
    "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein."

    Obey God today if you find yourself entrenched by the doctrine of the Harlot. Repent of your sins. Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, our Bridegroom. Receive the Holy Ghost and be empowered to stand for this Gospel until He returns. Don't be deceived by the Harlot churches. There is but ONE GOD and His name is JESUS. He is the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Remember that in the end time that there will be a ONE WORLD government which will be ridden by this harlot. Meaning that there will always be this spirit of compromise by men that are out to unify people without God. Please be watchful and obey the True Gospel as given in Acts 2:38. One day soon it will be against the law of the world empire to be able to write studies like this one. Please learn as much as you can now while there is still time and freedom to do so.
