LEADERSHIP TRAINING CENTER MISSION

The mission of the Leadership Training Center is to equip men and women to serve as laborers in the kingdom of God, offering quality biblical training that is affordable and accessible to all.

·       Discuss Jesus’ teachings on forgiveness.

Luke 17:1-4

(1)  Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

(2)  It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

(3)  Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

(4)  And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

·       Examine Jesus’ teachings on faith.

Luke 17:5-10

(5)  And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

(6)  And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

(7)  But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

(8)  And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

(9)  Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

(10)  So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

·       Review the chronological outline of Jesus’ last week.

Luke 19:45-48

(45)  And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

(PREACHER)

(46)  Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

(TEACHER)

(47)  And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

(48)  And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

·       Discuss Luke’s account of the events leading up to, surrounding and following Jesus’crucifixion.

PASSOVER / LAST SUPPER

Luke 22:1-3

(1)  Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

(2)  And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

(3)  Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

BETRAYAL BY JUDAS ISCARIOT

Luke 22:4-7

(4)  And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

(5)  And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

(6)  And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

(7)  Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

LAST SUPPER DISCUSSION OF SERVANTHOOD

Luke 22:25-35

(25)  And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

(26)  But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

(27)  For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

(28)  Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

(29)  And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

(30)  That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

(31)  And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

(32)  But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

(33)  And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

(34)  And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Simon Peter walked with Jesus for 3-1/2 years, he gave up his fishing business, put the ministry of Jesus Christ as the first priority of his life.  However, according to Jesus at this juncture, he is still NOT CONVERTED.  This absolutely defies the idea of the traditional and popular “Protestant” view of BELIEF ONLY to be converted.  The conversion occurred on the day of Pentecost, when Peter was baptized in the Spirit.  That is also the witness of the scriptural account of Cornelius in Acts 10, he was man of faith who paid alms and “prayed to God always”.  He was not converted until he had a Pentecostal conversion of Acts 2.  The Jews that attended that meeting with Peter and Cornelius’ household were ASTONISHED that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.   Please take note of the following:

Acts 11:12-14

(12)  And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

(13)  And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

(14)  Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

The angel did NOT state that this meeting was for a “special additional” blessing to a saved house of Cornelius.  This verse (Acts 11:14) tells us clearly that the presenting of Peter to the house of Cornelius was for their household to be CONVERTED, it was for their house to be SAVED.  Before the visit of Peter, the household of Cornelius was NOT FULLY CONVERTED.

Acts 11:15-17

(15)  And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

What is the beginning- specifically talking about the day of Peter’s conversion, the day that the New Testament experience was poured out – Acts 2, so because the Gentiles had the same conversion as the Jews on the day of Pentecost, the same conversion of Peter passed through his thoughts:

(16)  Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

(17)  Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

Notice the elements in Acts 11:16 water and Spirit.  What was going through the mind of the Apostle having the responsibility of leading the Gentiles to the conversion that the Apostles had already experienced?  We have the privilege of hearing the Apostle’s thoughts in this verse.  Had Peter thought as most modern day “Charismatic (Carelessmatic) Movements” he would have dropped the ball on the conversion of these Gentiles.  But his mind and his heart understood the ministry of Jesus Christ and what was weighing on them to preach to convert the world.  He was the man that Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom.  Therefore, although his quotation of the above scripture is Acts 1:15, no doubt this includes John 3:5, and the verses of the great Commission (Matt 28:19, Luke 24:47, Mark 16:16) Peter had no doubt that since these Gentiles spoke in other tongues (Acts 10:47) and were baptized in the Holy Ghost, that THEY MUST ALSO be born of the water (Acts 10:48) – HE COMMANDED THEM to be baptized “IN THE NAME OF THE LORD”.

No doubt the conversion of Apostle Peter, was being born of water and of the Spirit in obedience to John 3:5.  Therefore, his preaching on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:38) is the true conversion experience of the New Testament.  Once Peter was converted, he “STRENGTHENED THE BRETHERN” and I submit he also made new converts with the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ.

(35)  And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

·       Recount Luke’s description of the final appearance and ascension of Jesus.

Luke 24:27

(27)  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Luke 24:32

(32)  And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

·       List Jesus’ appearances after His resurrection.

Luke 24:42-53

(42)  And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

(43)  And he took it, and did eat before them.

(44)  And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

(45)  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

(46)  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

(47)  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

(48)  And ye are witnesses of these things.

(49)  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

(50)  And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

(51)  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

(52)  And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

(53)  And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

·       Establish the authorship of the Book of John.

·       Review the history of John, writer of the Book of John.

Son of Zebedee, a Jewish business man owned a fishing business that employed “hired servants” (Mark 1:16-20) owned a house in Capernaum, and a house in Jerusalem (John 19:27) and was a personal acquaintance of the high priest (John 18:15-16) and a  disciple of John the Baptist (John 1:35, 40), nicknamed by Jesus as the son of Thunder (Mark 3:17) which seems to imply he had a vehement, violent temper, which he was able to overcome being filled with the Holy Ghost.  He was one of the 3 inner circle disciples along with Peter and James and referred to as the Apostle “Whom Jesus Loved”.  His Gospel was written later than the others , being written and published in 90 AD.

·       Identify the theme of the Book of John.

The Deity of Christ, the “eagle” of the four beasts of Ezekiel/Revelation.

John 1:1

(1)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

“Logos” IS NOT an eternally begotten second person from eternity past.  (All oxymoron statements, completely failed logic and nonsense to make such a statement)

We must build definitions (precept upon precept, line upon line) from the Word of God to clearly and scriptural explain the definition of the Logos.

1.)    Son – speaks of the humanity of Christ, the man who was born of the virgin Mary.  The Son is also Deity by the rite of His birth.  Just as in any other birth consists of the Mother and Father to bear that seed, so it is with the birth of Christ.  His Father is God; His mother was Mary, meaning this Son is fully man and fully God.  Christ was birthed into existence; therefore the humanity of Christ was NOT ETERNAL.  (to prove this, it died at Calvary and 1 Corinthians 15 speaks of the end of the Sonship office of Christ.)

2.)    Logos - the conceptual plan, the office of Salvation, the Will of the Spirit of God which is not bound by time.

Notice the obvious English word embedded in the word Logos (Logo), which is a representation of a large company.  For example, if we discuss a large company that we all deal with, perhaps AT&T, which their trucks and workers wear the brand.  In order to deal with AT&T, this requires an interaction through their office, which every company has an office to deal with their customers.  The office is the meeting point between the customer and the company.  However this means that if the customer does not use the office, they will not get the results from the customer.

Therefore the primary purpose of the incarnation was for God to take on the BLOOD to become the SAVIOUR to His people, and to be SEEN IN FLESH (The tabernacle that God desired to rebuild from Amos 9:11).

3.)    God ALONE is the SAVIOUR, and HE created the HEAVENS and EARTH BY HIMSELF.

Isaiah 43:10-11

(10)  Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

(11)  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Isaiah 45:21

(21)  Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

Isaiah 45:22

(22)  Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Understanding the PURPOSE of the INCARNATION, and the fact that God is ALONE, and BY HIMSELF, and He is the ONLY one to look to for Salvation, then it is clear that God needed BLOOD to become the Savior of mankind.

Isaiah 44:24

(24)  Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Any reference to the Glory before the world was, or before the world began is IN THE MIND OF GOD, not bound in Creation of the world and its timeline.  God is above His Creation and the Author, therefore He calls things as though they are BEFORE they are a reality to His Creation.

Romans 4:17

(17)  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

God calleth “those things which be not as though they were”…. Meaning God is above and not limited to human time,   (Peter tells us 1000 years as a day…)   spoke to the humanity of Christ through the view of being outside the constraints of human time.

Psalms 110:1

(1)   A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Any discussion that God has with the “Son” before the birth of Christ must be understood in the context of prophecy.  It must clearly be understood that God Himself would be the Savior, that He was the one who needed to redeem man Himself.  Therefore the speech to the “Son” is not of an existing Second Person with God, but it is a PROPHETIC Word spoken from the Spirit of God to the humanity of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:11

(11)  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Any discussion that God has with the angelic host (“us” and “our” of Genesis 1:26 for example) is an example of God counseling with HIS OWN WILL.  Since God created heavens alone and earth by Himself, there is no other Biblical explanation to this discussion other than that God works all things AFTER the COUNSEL of His OWN WILL.

Revelation 13:8

(8)  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The LAMB slain from the foundation of the world, speaks of Christ being crucified FROM the foundation of the world comes to the understanding as the rest, “IN THE MIND” of God.

As far as the Proverbs 8 discourse on Wisdom, this may well be speaking of Christ, but again only in the MIND of God.  If folks want to actually make this Wisdom equal to Christ, then Proverbs 9 causes issue with this, as the personification in Proverbs 9 speaks of wisdom as a female.

John 3:16

(16)  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 John 3:16

(16)  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

When speaking of the humanity of Christ, He was GIVEN to the world by the Father (the Spirit).  When speaking of the Deity of Christ, He manifested HIMSELF inside of HUMANITY to LAY DOWN HIS LIFE for us.

John 1:10-15, 18

(10)  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

(11)  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

(12)  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

(13)  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

(14)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

(15)  John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

 (18)  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

As discussed above this principle of water and Spirit was the Revelation of the New Testament conversion process.  Jesus basically rebuked Nicodemus by asking him if he was a ruler of the Jews and not understanding the Blood, Water, and Spirit theme from the scriptures.  It is also of note that Nicodemus came by night instead of in the light of day, he was ashamed to have been seen being taught of Jesus in the middle of the day.
